An office assistant was found dead at his workplace, an advertising firm, in Dhaka’s Niketon area on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Rezaul Hossain Shakil, 25. He worked at Tinshell Town located on the first floor of a multi-storey building at Road 3 of Block B in Niketon under Gulshan police station.
Quoting other employees of the office, police said Rezaul used to live inside the office at night. He spent Monday night there as usual.
The employees found the office locked from outside when they arrived Tuesday morning. They thought Shakil had gone somewhere locking the office.
The victim's colleague Mosharraf told UNB that Shakil's father had also received a phone call in the morning from an unknown person who claimed his son was kidnapped and demanded Tk2 lakh as ransom for his release.
He said police was informed about the matter right away.
Gulshan police’s Inspector (Operations) Aminul Islam said police went to the office around 6:25pm and recovered Shakil’s body after breaking the door open.
He added that Shakil might have been strangled.
Hailing from Feni’s Chhagalnaiya, Shakil's father Nur Nabi also works at another advertising firm in the same area.
