599 yaba pills were recovered during the drive
Law enforcers have arrested six people along with 559 yaba pills in Comilla, Jhalokati, Lalmonirhat and Sirajganj districts on Saturday.
In Comilla, a team of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained a man along with 540 yaba pills and cash worth Tk4000, from a house in Dakkhin Chartha area in the city.
The detainee was identified as Sumon Mia, 30, son of Samsu Mia.
In Jhalokati, police held three people along with 19 yaba pills in separate drives on the Nabagram Nalighana area, in Sadar upazila and Shimultola area of Nalchhiti.
The arrested were identified as Hasan Mridha, son of Mizan Mridha and Sujon Mridha, son of Manik Mridha of Ucchora village and Sujon Datta son of Amal Datta of Shatpakia area of Nalchhiti.
In Lalmonirhat, police arrested a bullet-hit wounded drug trader from the Chhira Gaochulka area of Hatibandha upazila, around 3am.
“The detainee, Abdul Zalil, 37, son of late Anwar Hossain of Gotamari area of Hatibandha upazila was admitted to Hatibandha Upazila Health complex,” said Omar Faruk, officer-in-charge of Hatibandha police station.
“Two policemen were injured during the drive,’ he added.
In Sirajganj, “Drug dealer Moniruzzaman Labu Biswas was held early Saturday from his house in the city's Haque Road,” said Mozaharul Islam, officer-in-charge of the district detective branch of police (DB).
