Three JMB men have confessed in court to their involvement in militant activities, after a five-day remand in Lalmonirhat.
The JMB men: Fazle Rabbi, 25, Shahin Alam, 35 and Hasan Masum, 35, made their confessions under Section 164, to Lalmonirhat Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Md Asafuddin Uddin’s court on Tuesday.
They have confessed to their involvement in militant activities from 2012. The court later refused them bail and sent them to jail.
Rangpur Rapid Action Battalion-13 (RAB) Investigation Officer (IO) and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Md Habibur Rahman, has confirmed the news.
According to RAB-13 and police sources, the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s court granted a five-day remand for the accused on Thursday, under the Arms Act and Anti-Terrorism Act, after two cases were filed against them by the Pathgram police.
RAB-13 Deputy Director, Major Armin Rabbi, and ASP and IO, Habibur, have said they are also looking into the source of funds and collection of arms.
ASP Habibur said: “In August last month, seven militants were arrested in two separate raids in the Pathgram Municipality area’s Post Office Para. Three have given some important information while they were on remand.”
On August 2, the three JMB men were arrested from Diana Tailors in Post Office Para. At the time two foreign pistols, a single-fire gun, five rounds of fresh bullets, Jihadi books and propaganda leaflets were seized.
