DB searched a truck parked near the Dhanshiri Restaurant in the area and found 18,000 yaba pills in it
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested five suspected yaba peddlers and recovered 18,000 yaba pills from a truck in Mirpur, Dhaka on Thursday night.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman said acting on a tip-off, a team of the Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted a drive in the Mazar Road area under the Darus Salam police station around 10:30pm on Thursday.
They searched a truck parked near the Dhanshiri Restaurant in the area and found 18,000 yaba pills in it. Police seized the truck and arrested five people in this connection.
The arrested were identified as: Nurul Amin, 35, Abdul Aziz, 27, Md Rafique Uddin, 31, truck driver, Md Giasuddin, 37, and Abdur Shukur, 32.
During primary interrogation, the culprits divulged that they had been engaged in carrying pills from Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar to Dhaka for a long time. They used to distribute them to various areas in the capital and its neighbouring districts, the DMP official said.
