Suspected fake DB police arrested in Dhamrai

Fake guns, handcuffs, counterfeit DB uniforms, walkie-talkies, microbus, private car and Tk 4,700 were recovered from them

Police has arrested eight suspected members of fake DB police in Dhamrai. 

Fake guns, handcuffs, counterfeit DB uniforms, walkie-talkies, microbus, private car and Tk 4,700 were recovered from them. 

Dhaka District Additional Police Super Saidur Rahman Dhamrai confirmed the incident Sat press conference on Monday. 

Earlier, on Friday and Saturday, police conducted raids and arrested them from different areas of Savar and Ashulia.

The detainees are Jasim, 32, Ashraful Islam, 37, Alamgir Hossain, 27, Alamgir Sheikh, 35, Delwar Hossain, 45, Masum Khan, 26, Rafiqul Islam, 36 and Mostafa Mia, 44.

Sabbir Alam, a victim, filed a written complaint in the Dhamrai police station. Acting upon the complaint the police conducted raids in the area.

Saidur Rahman said: “The detainees work as a group. Some of them pretended as customers in different banks. When someone withdraws big amount of money from the bank they notify their other members. This group has been operating in different areas of Savar, Ashulia, Gazipur and surrounding areas for quite a long time.”

“We are trying to get to the roots of this fraud group,” he added.
