Chhatra League leader stabbed to death in Dhaka

According to locals and police sources, Rakib and Nur were attacked in the T&T colony area of Mohakhali

A leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of ruling Awami League, has been stabbed to death by unknown assailants in the Mohakhali area of Dhaka on early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Rakib Hasan, 27, from Barisal. He was a resident of Mohakhali, and the president of Chhatra League’s Banani (ward 19) unit. 

Rakib’s friend Nur Islam was also injured in the incident and is currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

According to locals and police sources, Rakib and Nur were attacked in the T&T colony area of Mohakhali. Locals came to rescue after hearing them scream, and took them to DMCH where the doctors declared Rakib dead on-arrival. 

Upon receiving the information, senior officials of Banani police station rushed to DMCH. Banani police station Inspector (Operation) Saihan Oliullah said drives are underway to arrest the culprits.

DMCH police outpost in-charge SI Bacchu Mia said Rakib’s body is being kept in the hospital mortuary.
