A man was stabbed to death by his uncle in the Mugder Manda area in Dhaka on Saturday. Police has arrested victim’s uncle in this connection.
The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam, 40 of Mugder Manda area in Dhaka.
Abul Khayer officer in-charge (OC) of Mugda policestationtold the Dhaka Tribune that they are suspecting the murder due to rivalry.
Police said Shah Alam, 45, is a distant uncle of Kalam. They were neighbours and have been residing in their own houses in Mugda.
On Saturday,Shah Alam met Kalam in-front of their house after Zohar prayersand while discussing they both went inside Shah Alam’s house.
At one stage of the discussion, Shah Alam stabbed Kalam on his neck leaving him profusely bleeding. Local people rushed Kalam to the Mugda General Hospital where the duty doctor pronounced him dead, the OC said.
When local people handed Shah Alam to police they recovered a knife from his possession.
Suspecting the case to be over family rivalry, OC said they are in the process of filing a case in this connection. The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy, which in turn could reveal the reason behind the murder, he added.
