The victim was referred to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital
Police have arrested a man suspected of raping a six-year-old girl in Lakshmipur village under Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga district.
The suspect, Shah Alam, from the same village, was arrested from Jhenaidah’s Maheshpur area on Thursday.
According to police and local sources, Alam allegedly took the victim to a corn field near her house and raped her. He fled the scene when she started screaming.
Learning of the matter, the girl’s family admitted her to Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex. She was later transferred to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital as her condition worsened.
Dr Rokonuzzaman Rubel, medical officer of the health complex, said: “The child was referred to the Sadar Hospital as she was bleeding excessively. ”
Jibannagar police station Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Gani Miah said: “The victim’s father filed a rape case at the station on Thursday afternoon. The suspect went into hiding after the incident, and was later arrested from Jhenaidah and sent to court.”
