Suspected rapist confesses to raping Garo teen

The suspected rapist of a Garo girl has confessed raping the teenager during the primary investigation by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) 3.

The suspect Md Yousuf Ali on Thursday confessed to taking advantage of the teen and raped her while his wife was away from home.

Earlier a joint team of RAB 3 and Detective Branch (DB) police arrested Yousuf from Dhaka’s Gulistan area’s Kaptan Bazar on Thursday.

RAB 3 Commanding Officer Lt Col Emranul Hasan confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.

Yousuf raped the girl at his Kalachandpur residence in Dhaka around 9am on Wednesday.

Yousuf, who works at IT solutions company Wipro, has two wives and three children. But he used to identify himself as an employee of mobile phone operator Grameenphone.

Yousuf’s wife second wife learning of the incident came home immediately, while a neighbour rescued the injured teen and admitted her to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment.

Gulshan police station Sub-Inspector Md Nuruzzaman said they visited the crime scene and collected necessary evidence and a case was being processed to be filed.

On January 26, the girl was brought from Sherpur to help with the domestic work at Yousuf’s house.
