The contrabands worth Tk5 crore, were being smuggled in via a shipping boat far out into the ocean
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Friday arrested four Rohingya refugees along with 100,000 yaba pills in the Bay of Bengal.
Members of RAB 15 conducted a drive far up the Cox’s Bazar channel around 12pm and seized a fishing boat concealing the contraband worth Tk5 crore.
The arrested Enayet Ullah, 28, Karim Ullah, 32, Rashid Ullah, 22 and Hamid, were refugees from Ukhiya’s Hakimpara and Thaingkhali camps.
Cox’s Bazar RAB 15 Company Cdr Maj Mehedi Hasan confirmed and said: “Acting on a tip-off, the elite force conducted a drive far out into the ocean and seized a fishing boat carrying 100,000 yaba pills manned by four Rohingyas.”
“Later the couriers confessed to smuggling the contraband from Myanmar into Chittagong,” he added.
“After further interrogation, they will be handed over to the Cox’s Bazar Sadar police,” he also added.
