3 of a family burnt in acid attack

They were admitted to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital

Three of a family, including two SSC examinees, suffered burn injuries as criminals hurled acid on them over previous enmity in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila on Sunday evening.

The victims are Mariam Begum, 35, wife of Mostofa Kamal , their daughter Tanzina Akter, and Tithi , niece of  Mostofa, at Jhargaon village of Sadar upazila.

Tanzina  and Tithi are sitting for SSC exams this year.

Mariam said their neighour Amzad and his men had been trying to grab a piece of their land illegally for a long time.   On the day, Amzad and his men confined Mostofa in Gunjura Bazar near the village.

Amzad threw acid on Mariam, Tanzina  and Tithi, leaving them critically injured, when they went to the bazar to free Mostofa, said sources.  They were admitted to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital.

Ruhia police station Officer-in-Charge Prodid Kumar said steps would be taken after investigation.
