Woman raped in Laxmipur, one held

Police in Laxmipur yesterday arrested a man at Natun Bazar in Raipur upazila in the district for raping a young woman.

The arrestee was identified as Sohag, son of Bachchu Mia of Charababil area of the upazila, reports UNB.

Officer-in-charge of Raipur Police Station AKM Azizur Rahman Mia said Sohag called the victim over cell phone on April 29 to meet him at a remote place.

Later, he raped the woman after locking her up in a house and fled.

Victim's family filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Raipur Police Station on Saturday night when the victim disclosed the matter to her parents.

The victim was sent to Sadar Hospital for medical examination, the OC said.
