Man held for raping daughter-in-law in Kurigram

Police have arrested a man for allegedly raping his daughter-in-law in Kurigram Sadar upazila.

Altaf Hossain, 55, was arrested on Tuesday night, after his son Anisur Rahman filed a case with Kurigram Sadar police station.

According to the case details, Anisur is a construction worker in Dhaka. Altaf took the opportunity of his son's absence and raped his daughter-in-law repeatedly. 

Altaf's wife Arjina Begum threatened the victim not to disclose the matter to her husband.  

Anisur caught his father raping his wife when he returned home from Dhaka on July 6. His father also tried to resolve the matter with help from the local union parishad member Rafiqul Islam. 

The victim said her father-in-law has repetitively raped her and demanded justice for it.

Mahfuzur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kurigram police station, said: "Anisur has filed a case under the Prevention of Women and Children Repression Act and we have arrested the alleged accordingly."
