Female garment worker hacked to death in Dhaka

A female garment worker was hacked to death in the capital’s Dakshin Khan area on Sunday night.

Alo Aktar’s body was recovered from the bathroom of her rented tin shed house located on the Dakshin Khan Jame Mosque lane.

Police currently suspect Alo’s colleague Parvez to be the perpetrator. Parvez reportedly had been offering proposals of love to her repeatedly. 

Both of them worked at Mayer Doa Washing Plant in the area.

However, police are yet to find Parvez.

Md Nasir Uddin, inspector (investigation) of Dakshin Khan police station, said: “We have multiple proofs showing that Parvez was disturbing Alo as she had refused his proposals.”

“Moreover, he is on the run, which makes it suspicious.”

Police are trying to catch him, the police official added.

Despite being a densely populated area, none of the neighbours saw or heard anything during the murder, police said.

The dead body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.

Alo hails from Dinajpur district and was living in the Dakshin Khan area with her family.
