Influential local accused of raping woman in Narsingdi

An influential local has been accused of raping a woman by reportedly threatening her husband of adverse consequences in Palash upazila of Narsingdi.

The woman's husband on Saturday registered a case at Palash police station in this regard after the incident took place on October 26.

The accused is Pappu Khondoker, brother of ward no 2 councillor Alam Khandoker of Ghorashal municipality. One of his associate Shahadat, has been accused of assisting the rape.

Palash police station officer-in-charge (Investigation) Md Humayan Kabir said: "Police are making drives to arrest the accused. The woman will be sent for a medical test."

On 26th October, Pappu asked the driver of his car to bring his wife to him or he will not pay his monthly salary. When the driver complied with his wishes, he confined him in a room and raped his wife inside the car, according to the case dockets.

On Friday, Pappu again made a similar demand and the woman's husband filed the case against him.
