Police say the arrestees are long-time gold smugglers
Police have arrested a married couple for allegedly smuggling gold bars worth Tk3 crore through the Bangladesh-Myanmar border in Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban.
A team led by Naikhongchhari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Alamgir Hossain busted the duo Md Farooq, 35, and Maryam Begum, 26 at their safe house in ward 8 of Ashartali border area Monday afternoon and seized 28 gold bars from their possession, said police.
OC Alamgir said the arrestees are long-time gold smugglers. “Police will take legal action against them.”
