Police, responding to a '999' emergency call on Monday night, rescued four workers from being tortured in confinement at FBM Brickfield in Bandarban Sadar upazila.
Police also arrested seven people on suspicion of their carrying out torture on these four brick kiln workers.
The rescued are Md Abul Kalam, Md Riaz, Md Khalil and Md Rubel, all of whom are from Noakhali.
Meanwhile, the detainees are Jahangir Alam, Sadhan Chandra Das, Shahadat Hossain, Zafar Uddin, Jasim Uddin, Nurul Islam and Merhaj Hossain.
Speaking to Dhaka Tribune, Abul Kalam, one of the rescued workers, said: "We had been made to work without any pay for a long time. On top of that, the manager had been confining us in shackles and torturing us as well."
He said the brickfield was owned by a man named Milon, also known as "Textile Milon".
Bandarban Sadar police station OC Shahidul Islam Chowdhury said a case would soon be filed over the incident.
