The college student jumped off a moving bus through window to avoid rape
The law enforcers have arrested a bus driver who was allegedly attempted to rape a college student on a moving bus in Derai of Sunamganj.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police apprehended Shahid Mia, 25, from the old bus station in Sunamganj town around 6am on Saturday when he reached there from Dhaka, confirmed Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Mizanur Rahman.
Earlier, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested the driver's assistant, Rashid Ahmed, at Burairgaon in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj on December 28.
SP Mizanur said the bus driver was brought to Sunamganj from the capital by the CID personnel using various tactics.
On December 26, the 11th grader was heading towards Derai from Lamakazi area in Sylhet, according to her relatives.

At one point, seeing that there was nobody else on board except the girl, the driver and his assistant attempted to rape her.
In a desperate attempt to save herself, the student jumped off the moving bus through a window, seriously injuring herself.
She was rushed to Derai Upazila Health Complex and later moved to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital for better treatment.
As the news spread around, locals and relatives of the girl staged demonstrations in front of Derai police station at night.
Police later seized the bus.
Driver Shahid and his assistant Rashid were on the run since the incident.
Father of the college student filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act against three people -- the driver, his assistant, and the bus conductor -- at the police station on December 26 night.
Additional SP Hayatunnabi said they are conducting drives to arrest the bus conductor.
