Four accused arrested by police
A female garment worker was gang-raped on her way back from her friend's house in Savar on Wednesday.
On Saturday night, the victim filed a case with Ashulia police station. Police raided Gazirchat area in Ashulia on the same night and arrested four accused.
The detainees are Saiful Islam Babu and Arif, sons of Mokhles Hossain of Gazirchat Dargarpara area of Ashulia, Abu Bakkar, son of Anwar Hossain of the same area, and Rana Molla, son of Nannu Molla.
Ashulia Police Inspector Ziaul Islam (investigation) confirmed the matter.
The garment worker was rescued and later sent to the One Stop Crisis Centre of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical attention.
Police said the garment worker was returning to her rented house from her friend's house in Gazirchat area of Ashulia on Wednesday night (February 10).
On the way, the woman was speaking to her two male colleagues. At that time, the four accused went to them and threatened the men, forcing them to leave.
Later, the accused youths forcibly took the woman worker to an abandoned room of a house, owned by a local resident named Saiful, and raped her.
The accused left the scene after intimidating the woman.
