The girl left for home at 4:30pm on February 14 after finishing her studies at the Sancharan Coaching Centre in Patgati village. As she was returning home, three people blocked her way from a place called Notun Bazar Battala, and with the help of an easybike driver, they grabbed her, blindfolded her and took her to an isolated place and sprayed her with anesthetic.

Family members took her to Tungipara Upazila Health Complex for medical examination. When her condition deteriorated, the on-duty doctor referred her to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital at 10pm.
Later, the girl's family took her to Khulna Medical College Hospital for better treatment the next day, on February 15.
The survivor’s uncle said that the girl was unconscious for two days after the rape and they could not find out the cause of her illness.
“Later I came to know about the rape from her. But her physical condition was already worse by then. This is why there has been a delay in filing the case,” he added.
Tungipara police station OC AFM Nasim said the girl's father filed a case with the police station. Attempts are being made to arrest the accused and the girl's medical examination has been completed.
