Members of Detective Branch (DB) of police in a drive arrested a Hefazat-e-Islam leader from Dhaka’s Basabo area on Friday.
The arrestee was identified as - Rezwan Rafique, reports Bangla Tribune.
Tipped off, a team of Motijheel division DB conducted a drive in that area and arrested Rezwan on Friday night, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of DMP's Media and Public Relations Iftekharul Islam.
He has been shown arrested in a case filed with Paltan police station over March 26 violence, centring Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit in Dhaka this year, according to media reports.
Police also said, according to Bangla Tribune, Rezwan has been circulating provocative information via Facebook and other social media platforms in a bid to launch an initiative to free the jailed Hefazat leaders.
