But she cannot walk out of jail now, says her lawyer
A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted bail to businessperson-turned-politician Helena Jahangir in two cases filed on charges of fraud and possession of drugs.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sessions Judge KM Emrul Keyesh passed the order after hearing her bail petitions in the cases filed with Gulshan and Pallabi police stations.
On August 17, Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sufiyan Mohammed Noman granted bail to Helena Jahangir in a case filed under the Telecommunication Act.

But Helena cannot walk out of jail now, as she is yet to get bail in another case filed with Gulshan police station under Digital Security Act, her counsel Barrister Zahirul Islam told Dhaka Tribune.
Law enforcers arrested Helena during a raid at her Gulshan residence in the capital on August 3.
During the raid, RAB had seized a huge quantity of liquor, poker equipment, walkie-talkies, foreign currencies, and knives from there.
She was also accused of running illegal IPTV, spreading false information, extortion, and other illegal activities.

Helena is also facing charges in cases filed under the Digital Security Act, Narcotics Control Act, Wildlife Protection Act and Digital Security Act.
On July 25, Helena had lost her membership of the Awami League subcommittee on women affairs for her involvement with the Awami Chakrijibi League, an organization with no affiliation with the ruling party.
She was also removed from the adviser post of Awami League’s Comilla district unit.
