A complaint was lodged against the accused with Adabor police station
Faruk Hossain, the chairman of Chakla union in Pabna and president of the Awami League's union unit, has been accused of raping a girl in Dhaka’s Adabar area.
The survivor was admitted by Adabar police Sub-Inspector (SI) Madhab Chowdhury to the One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for a forensic test on Saturday.
The SI said the survivor herself lodged a complaint with Adabar police.
DMCH OCC Coordinator Dr Bilkis Begum said the reported rape survivor's forensic test was conducted on Saturday following her admission. "We'll know more after we get the report."
According to the victim, Faruk brought her to Dhaka promising to marry her, but then raped her in a house at Adabar on Friday.
However, sources said the survivor was Faruk's second wife. They even lived as a family for some years, before getting a divorce on January 10 this year.
Police sources said a case was filed against the Awami League leader under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act but police are yet to confirm the matter.
Faruk Hossain could not be reached for comment.
