WB funds $74m for e-government services, cleaner Dhaka

Bangladesh has signed two additional financing agreements of $74 million with the World Bank to upgrade the country's e-government services and improve air quality of Dhaka city. Acting World Bank Country Director for Bangladesh Rajashree Paralker signed the agreements on behalf of the World Bank while Mahmuda Begum, additional secretary, Economic Relations Division, signed on behalf of Bangladesh government. “These two financings will help Bangladesh improve lives and living standards of its population,” said Rajashree Paralker. She said the Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance Project would help improve public sector administration and public services through the use of e-government technologies and innovations. “The additional financing to Clean Air and Sustainable Project will help address Dhaka's environmental, transport and traffic challenges, and help improve the city's air quality,” she added.
