On the occasion of the 50th bird census, Forest Department of Bangladesh Government, Bangladesh Bird Club, and Nature and Life Foundation has jointly organised a day long fair in the capital.
This is the first time the fair was held in the National Botanical Garden. The birds were set free by Chief Conservator of Forests Yunus Ali, Bangladesh Bird Club’s founder Inam Ul Haque, and Director of Nature and Life Foundation Muqeed Majumdar Babu.
Ishrat Jahan, wildlife inspector of the forest department said: parrots, doves, munias and gulls were rescued by Wildlife Crime Control Unit from Savar on Friday.

“The fair aims to create awareness among people about the importance of wildlife conservation and illegal trade along with its effect on biodiversity and nature,” Ishrat added.
