To ensure smooth traffic movement, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police has issued several traffic advisories.

Last week, on January 4 and 5, Awami League and its affiliates celebrated Bangladesh Chhatra League’s 69-year anniversary and “Victory Day of Democracy” respectively, which saw huge traffic congestion on the streets of Dhaka.
On those two days, DMP had taken no precautions or made any announcements as to which roads would be used by the party activists. Both events fell on two work days, inconveniencing people to no end.
The political events over the past year have often caused severe gridlocks in the city, immobilising traffic movement for miles in every direction. Only the 20th Awami League National Council saw the DMP lay down traffic guidelines which minimised citizen discomfort.
