WB hands over two duty-free cars to CIID
The cars were transferred over to the CIID at their headquarters around 11am on Monday, according to a post on the CIID Facebook page. Two former officials of the WB country office, Mirva Tuulia from Finland and Mridula Singh from India, brought the cars into the country using the duty-free benefits that are accorded to some specified international organisations under the Privileged Persons (Customs Procedure) Rules 2003. When Mirva and Mridula left Bangladesh after fulfilling their assignments in December 2016 and December 2014, respectively, they did not hand over the passbooks or submit car details to customs during their departure, as per the rules. https://www.facebook.com/customs.intelligence.bd/videos/1318533544901693/ On Wednesday last week, the CIID had sent a letter to the WB country director asking for the details of about 16 cars which have allegedly been brought into the country by WB staff.
