The Abdullah Al-Mamun Theatre School is going to celebrate its 27th anniversary with a seminar, a rally and a host of cultural festivities in Dhaka.
The three-part day-long event, which will be open to the public, will be held at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on January 19, Friday, Convener Syed Apon Ahsan said at a press meet on Monday.
The first part of the event will comprise of the seminar “Classical Theatre and Contemporary Production Experiment” initiated by Prof Abdus Selim, to be held on the 6th floor of the academy. The second part will be a rally which will start at 4pm from Nandan Mancha and circle back to the academy. In the last part, there will be festival formalities and cultural performances at 6pm.
“The anniversary is being held to celebrate the contributions of the school in producing great actors and theatre workers for the last 27 years,” said Principal Ramendu Majumdar.
Asaduzzaman Noor, the cultural affairs minister, will attend the event as chief guest.
Aktaruzzaman, an alumnus of the Theatre School and general secretary of the Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation called on the alumni to register as soon as possible and invited all theatre lovers to join in the celebrations.
