The High Court has removed a writ petition from its cause list, which was filed seeking a stay of the Dhaka Officers’ Club election.
A dual High Court bench comprised of Justices Naima Haidar and Jafar Ahmed removed the petition on Thursday.
Lawyers confirmed that there are currently no legal barriers to hold the polls as scheduled on January 19.
Addressing Barrister Amir-ul-Islam, who represented the writ petitioner, the court said: “The election is scheduled tomorrow [January 19], so we will not conduct hearing. If you want, you can go to another bench.”
The writ seeking a stay on the Dhaka Officers’ Club election was filed by Mahfuzur Rahman, a club member, on Wednesday.
