
Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) has donated 2600 bags of blood in remembrance of the March 25 genocide and the sacrifices of three million martyrs during the Liberation War of 1971.
The voluntary blood donation camp was organized on Monday in association with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society at BEPZA Executive Office and its eight EPZs.
Consequently, the Executive Office and its EPZs were awarded the best blood donor organization from Bangladesh Red Crescent Society for donating 1200 bags of blood during emergencies on March 23, 2017.
Md Nojibur Rahman, principal secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), inaugurated the program as chief guest, praising BEPZA's initiative.
The Secretary General of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Mr Md Feroz Salah Uddin was present as Special Guest.
Executive Chairman of BEPZA Major General Md Habibur Rahman Khan said: “BEPZA has done various welfare activities for the country, like providing assistance to victims of flood-affected regions, Rohingya refugees, Nepal earthquake victims, etc. This initiative is also part of our social duty.”
Md Abdul Halim, director general of the Governance Innovation Unit of PMO, and BEPZA employees were present in the program.
BEPZA has launched a blood bank database in its official website named “BEPZA Blood Bank” containing information on 70,000 donors. BEPZA will also establish negative blood group lists in each EPZ.
BEPZA contributed around 20% to total national exports and foreign direct investment of Bangladesh through the EPZs.
