The Dhaka University Teachers’ Association has reiterated its support for the ongoing movement of students and jobseekers demanding reform of the existing quota system for government jobs.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, the association stated: “We believe that a reform of the existing quota system is a demand of present times.
“We urge the highest level of the government to announce a clear decision regarding this issue as soon as possible.”
The press release further read: “We also urge the law enforcing agencies not to carry out any police action against students involved in peaceful demonstrations respecting the laws.
The teachers’ association demanded that necessary measures be taken by the authorities to ensure safety and security of teachers and students of the Dhaka University.
The press release was signed by Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal and Prof Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam, who are the president and the general secretary of the association respectively.
