
Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) distributed household essentials among 929 families living in Mirpur 12 slum in Dhaka on Friday.
Elias Uddin Mollah, MP of Dhaka 16 constituency, was present as chief guest and Lion Sharif Ali Khan, unit secretary of Dhaka city Red Crescent, presided over the event.
The initiative was taken by the Red Crescent Society in cooperation with Swiss Red Cross Bangladesh and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
The families were provided with hygiene kits, water storing jars, cooking materials and other related accessories.
Earlier on March 11, a deadly fire broke out at Elias Ali Slum severely affecting around 8,000 families.
Engr Parvez, executive member of Dhaka city Red Crescent, Nurul Amin, assistant director of BDRCS, and Forkan Ahmed, representative of Swiss Red Cross Bangladesh, were present at the event, among others.
