
Students and job seekers, under the banner of Bangladesh Shadharan Chhatra Parishad, staged another demonstration at Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka on Friday demanding to raise the age ceiling for recruitment in public service.

Bringing out a rally on one of the capital's busiest roads, the protesters demanded that the ceiling be raised to 35 years from the existing 30 years.

“In our education system, students are 27-28 years old by the time they complete their education. In the current recruitment system, these graduates get a window of only two or three years to land a government job, which is nearly not enough time,” said MA Ali, general secretary of the student-job seeker platform.

Later, the demonstrators brought out a coffin march and walked from Shahbagh to the TSC intersection of Dhaka University.
