Gonosonhoti Andolon Chief Co-ordinator Zonayed Saki has asked who is giving secret instructions to attack the protesting students. “Why did police and Chhatra League men launch an attack on the protesters in Mirpur and Jigatola when the prime minister had ordered them to take care of the students on the streets? Is someone giving them secret instructions?” he said addressing a protest program in front of the National Press Club yesterday.
Saki lauded the student protesters’ role in the roads and expressed solidarity with them. He demanded Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan’s resignation.
“You [the government] cannot budge the students from their logical demands. You should stop the attacks on them,” the Gonosonhoti Andolon leader said.
Meanwhile, Communist Party of Bangladesh also held a protest rally in front of the Press Club.
The party leaders demanded safety on roads and urged the government to meet the students’ demands.
