Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on Sunday, laid the foundation stone of an underpass at a road adjacent to Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment School and College, in Dhaka.

The Bangladesh Army will implement the project.

The underpass will be built as per the prime minister's commitment that she made after two of the college’s students were killed in a recent road crash.

On July 29, Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib, first-year students of the college, were killed as a bus ploughed through students in front of Kurmitola General Hospital, on Airport Road, in the capital.

The family members of the two students, and the principal of the college, met the Prime Minister on August 2.

During the meeting, Sheikh Hasina promised to construct an underpass nearby the Ramiz Uddin College and provide five buses for its students. On August 4, the Prime Minister provided the buses to the educational institution.
