The victims have been identified as Shumi and Henna
The bodies of two female school students have been recovered from Turag River in Ashulia’s Moragang area.
The victims – Shumi, 13, and Henna, 14 – were residents of Savar’s Ghoshbag area. They were 9th grade students at Dhanmondi Rotary Club Girls High School. One of the victims was wearing a school uniform.
Police and locals say several fishermen saw the bodies floating in the river around 7pm on Wednesday. Police later recovered the bodies and took them to Ashulia police station.
Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Javed Masud told the Dhaka Tribune that the bodies have been sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
He said a case will be filed over the matter.
