Gonoshasthaya Kendra board of trustees member Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury has once again been accused of extortion and illegal occupation.

A man named Selim Ahmed filed a case in this regard with Ashulia police station on Sunday night, bringing the number of similar cases filed against Zafrullah over the last week to three.

In this case, Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury has been named the main accused, along with Gono Bishwabidyalay registrar Delwar Hossain, Gonoshasthaya Kendra directors Saiful Islam Shishir and Awlad Hossain, and a number of unnamed individuals also being implicated.

Ashulia police station inspector Javed Masud confirmed the matter, saying: “Over the last few months, Dr Zafrullah has had many cases filed in his name, including multiple extortion cases.”

According to case documents, Selim bought a piece of land next to Gonoshasthaya Kendra. However, for the last few months, Zafrullah’s men had been trying to take over the land.

Allegedly, Zafrullah also asked for a large sum of money from Selim.

On October 15 and 19, two men, Mohammad Ali and Hasan Imam, filed similar, separate cases with Ashulia police station.
