Web-based awareness and educational platform E-Society has launched an online course on road safety to help bring about a positive change in human behaviour.
With the aid of short video clips, the platform launched “Road Safety Awareness Course 1” at Dhaka Reporters Unity in Dhaka’s Topkhana Road on Monday.
Founder of E-Society ATM Kamruzzaman said: “This initiative was taken to help build positive habits among the new generation.”
He said they started the program on October 10, with the participation of students from primary and secondary schools, with teachers working as mentors.
After registration, any student can participate in this program without paying any fee and graduate with a certificate, he added.
“Within 25 days, 1,003 students and teachers completed registration, and 750 students have completed this course while 188 teachers joined as mentors,” Kamruzzaman said.
Prof Jamilur Reza Choudhury said: “This is a really great initiative, and there is no need to spend more to learn through this way.”
“There are a lot of rules and regulations on road safety, but people frequently violate them. This course seems to be working as an outstanding effort to curb that,” he added.
Eminent journalist Kamal Lohani said: “This is an educational course aimed at improving our society for the betterment.”
“We have faced many failures while trying to bring about positive changes to this society. Taking lessons from failure, this initiative will work towards positive outcomes at different levels of society,” he added.
