The organization says additional support is required in order to fully manage the mosquito population
Community service organization Gulshan Society, on Sunday, launched its annual mosquito control program in Dhaka’s Gulshan area.
Its Civic Utilities Team worked with the Zonal Convener responsible for the specific neighbourhood, to target highly-vulnerable areas – including Road No 126 and the lake next to Road No 130 – according to a press release.
The team’s Co-Convener Shayaan Seraj said: “Mosquitoes are transmitters of infectious diseases such as dengue, malaria, and chikunguniya. It is the responsibility of everyone in our community to come forward and assist in mosquito control programs.
“We believe Gulshan Society complements existing programs run by Dhaka North City Corporation. However, additional support is required in order to truly manage the mosquito population.”
According to the press release, the organization recently purchased both spray and fogger machines that were being used in the drive.
