The High Court has observed that the Viqarunnisa Noon School student’s suicide is heart-rending—and it deemed the insults to her parents a very bad example.
A High Court bench comprised of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Rajik Al Jalil made the observations when a Supreme Court lawyer brought the issue to their attention.

The lawyer, Barrister Sayedul Haque Sumon, presented the reports about the suicide –published in different newspapers – before the bench, and sought its directives. The court then asked the lawyer to file a writ—attaching the newspaper reports with it.

A Class 9 student of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College committed suicide at her Shantinagar residence in Dhaka on Monday—after allegedly being rebuked by teachers for using a mobile phone during an exam.
