Similar instruction was issued earlier, but the airlines apparently did not follow it completely
Passengers will have to mandatorily carry photo IDs cards while travelling to local destinations by air.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) issued the instruction on Tuesday, Biman Bangladesh Airlines said in a statement.
The instruction came two days after a reported attempt to hijack a Biman aircraft at the Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong.
The statement said that valid passports, NID cards, driving licences, student IDs and office IDs will have to be shown while collecting boarding passes at the domestic airports.
Biman also requested the passengers to keep photo IDs with them while travelling to domestic destinations.
"Otherwise, they will be restricted from travelling," the statement added.
CAAB has also instructed the concerned law enforcement agencies to beef up overall security of the airports and airlines.
Earlier, the Civil Aviation authority had instructed all airlines to mandatorily check valid photo ID cards of the passengers before issuing boarding passes, but the instruction was not followed to the full extent.
