Suspected drug trader killed in Dhaka 'gunfight'

A suspected drug trader has been killed in a reported gunfight, by police, near Gulistan in Dhaka.

The incident occurred near Mahanagar Natya Mancha around 1am early on Wednesday. 

The deceased is Kamal Hossain, 35. 

Paltan Police Station Sub Inspector (SI) Syed Ali said: "Based on a tip-off, we found out that drug traders were near Natya Mancha."

He said when police went to the spot, the suspected drug traders fired at law enforcement. Later, the police retaliated by firing back. 

Law enforcement recovered one person from the spot and took him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). There, the on-duty doctors declared him dead on arrival.
