Dildar is currently out on bail after being arrested in a money laundering case
Faria Mahbub Piasha, wife of Banani Raintree Hotel rape case prime suspect Shafat Ahmed, has accused her father-in-law and Apan Jewellers co-owner Dildar Ahmed Selim of assaulting her.
Faria, 26, filed a petition with the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court to start a case against Dildar on Monday. She also accused Apan Real Estate Consultant and Supervisor Md Mokhlesur Rahman of abetting her father-in-law.
According to the petition, Faria married Shafat about five years ago. On March 5 this year, Dildar assaulted her and drove her out of the house with the assistance of Mokhlesur.
“My mobile phone and car have been seized. He (Dildar) threatened to kill me. He said I would not able to do anything as he would buy the media and administration,” Faria said.
Faria’s lawyers Mohammad Ullah and Sanaul Islam Tipu said Metropolitan Magistrate Md Tofazzal Hossain had accepted her petition and ordered the Police Bureau of Investigation to look into the accusations.
Dildar Ahmed could not be reached for comment.
Following Shafat’s arrest in the Banani rape case, his father was also arrested in a money laundering case. Both were released on bail, but Shafat was recently sent back to jail after his bail was cancelled.
Faria is a former director of private TV station Asian TV and now runs Sohana Group with partners.
