A woman died after being hit by a falling bamboo stick from a construction site in the Hajinagar area of Demra amid a storm in Dhaka.
The deceased was identified as Sheuly Begum, 35, of Haimochor village of Shariatpur.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost in-charge Sub-Inspector (SI) Bachchu Mia confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune on Tuesday.
Sheuly was passing by in the Mir Hajirbagh area when a stray bamboo stick from a three-storey building under construction hit her on the head around 4:30pm, said the police SI citing the deceased’s brother Md Hasan.
She was rushed to a local hospital and then to DMCH, where the duty doctor declared her dead.
DMCH SI Bachchu Mia said the body has been sent to the morgue for autopsy.
Sheuly used to live in Hajinagar in Demra in a rented apartment with her husband and daughter.
