‘No business will be allowed to continue at the cost of human lives’
Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor, Sayeed Khokon, on Saturday, directed the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence to ascertain whether the recent incidents of fire were acts of sabotage.
He came up with the directive at a discussion program on safe chemical management, at the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) auditorium.
Sayeed Khokon, advised business owners to remain alert, to whether anyone is staging such incidents, following any misunderstanding or conflict.
Supporting the proposal of the business community, to establish a new fire station, in at Babu Bazar, in Old Dhaka, to be able to reach fire incidents quickly, the mayor, urged the Director General of the Fire Service to take necessary measures in this regard.
Mentioning the contributions of the Old Dhaka businessmen in the national economy, Sayeed Khokon said, "It will be monitored so that traders can operate their businesses without any hazard. We must remain alert. No business will be allowed to continue at the cost of human lives."
