The firefighter sustained serious injuries while saving people trapped in the FR Tower fire
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and President Md Abdul Hamid have expressed their deep shock and sorrow at the death of firefighter Sohel Rana.
Sohel Rana, who sustained serious injuries during the rescue operation at Banani's FR Tower on March 28, passed away at a hospital in Singapore in the early hours of Monday.
In separate condolence messages, the premier and the president said Sohel Rana will remain a "bright example" of sacrificing his own life to save the lives of others.
Both of them prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
Sohel Rana, a fireman of Kurmitola fire station, was injured while saving people trapped inside FR Tower after a devastating fire broke out on March 28.
After the incident, he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka.
Later, Sohel was sent to Singapore by an air ambulance following the directives of the prime minister for better treatment.
The FR Tower inferno claimed 26 lives and left scores injured.
