Three people have been arrested with Tk20 lakh in fake notes and 300gm of heroin at Paltan in Dhaka.
Detective Branch (DB) North Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested them on Friday.
The arrested are Shahabuddin Shikder, 38, Mehedi Hasan alias Babu alias Lawrence, 42, and Sohel Mia, 29.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman confirmed the matter.
“Based on a tip-off, a DB team conducted a drive in front of Hotel Bakshi around 4pm, and arrested them red handed,” Masudur said.
“During primary interrogation, they confessed to cheating people by mixing fake currencies with original ones during big festivals and programs. They were also involved in drug trading of heroin,” the DMP official said.
Two separate cases have been filed at the Paltan police station in this regard.
