The cyclonic storm may not have been a major disaster, but Dhaka did not escape unscathed
Although there was much relief on Saturday after Cyclone Fani crossed through the northwestern part of Bangladesh without resulting in a major disaster, the impact of the storm was still felt in Dhaka, in the middle of the country.
The capital did not escape unscathed, with even large trees uprooted in some areas. However, there were no reports of any casualties in the city.
Coastal and riverine areas were most affected by the storm, with house collapses and the felling of trees the most common cause of injury or death.
A total 17 people were killed across 10 districts in the lead up to and during the storm on Friday and Saturday
