The police initially suspected the deaths were suicides
Police have recovered the bodies of a woman and her son and daughter from a house in Uttarkhan area, Dhaka.
The bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
They were recovered from a one-storey building in Moynartek area around 9:30pm Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Jahanara Khatun Mukta, 48, a housewife, her son Muhibub Hassan Rothi, 27, and daughter Tasfiya Sultana Mim, 20.
Uttarkhan police station OC Helaluddin said: "After being notified by the locals, we went to the house and broke open the door, to find the bodies lying on the floor.
“Judging by the state of decomposition of the bodies, we think they may have died around two days ago. The door was locked from the inside."
He said: “We have recovered a machete and some bottles as evidence from the house.”
The police official said the family rented the house on May 7. “They might have committed suicide,” he added.
The family was originally from Bhairab’s Jagannathpur. Mukta’s husband died a few years ago.
