Forensic expert Dr Sohel Mahmud has said one of the three members of a family, who were found dead in Dhaka’s Uttarkhan, had committed suicide.

Dhaka Medical College Forensic Medicine department Head Dr Sohel Mahmud made the statement on Wednesday

Talking to the reporters after his visiting the crime scene, he said: "At least one of the three members of Uttarkhan family committed suicide.

“First we thought it was the son but now the evidences suggest that it was the mother, who committed suicide," he said.

The forensic expert stated that the son, who was also found dead in the house, could not have killed himself as the way his throat was cut, does not suggest to a suicide.

According to the autopsy report received on Monday, Dr Sohel Mahmud, said: "The mother and the daughter were strangulated.

Blood stains were found on the bed while vomit was found on the floor of the house.

Earlier, police seized a machete and two knives from the spot.

Talking about the evidence, Dr Sohel said: "The blood on the knives is being examined for fingers prints.

“Specimen of the blood collected from the knives has been sent to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for DNA tests."
